It is important to us here at Rothbury Parish Council to keep the local people updated, whether this be about recent road closures, or upcoming events. We will be posting updates to ensure that our community is always up to speed with happenings in the area.
It is essential to Rothbury Parish Council to provide and support the local community. We have various community lead groups that you are welcome to join. Rothbury also has a variety of local walks that are great for all the family, alongside plenty of local businesses.
Parish Council’s must be transparent with their financial documents and obligations. These can be easily found on our site, making it easier for you, the local people, to contribute to local decision making and increase our democratic accountability.
Rothbury is a small market town set on the banks of the River Coquet in Northumberland, and although technically a town, everyone still tends to call it a village. It has a village feel about it. Shops, hotels and houses are spread on each side of the river, though the commercial heart is set on the north side along with the recreation areas of Tennis, Bowls and Football.
The main shopping area is situated on the ‘High Street’, though there are excellent and interesting shops on ‘Bridge Street’, ‘Town Foot’ and ‘Front Street’. A short walk from Town Foot are the Tennis Courts, Bowling Green, 5 a-side pitch and the Stepping Stones. These stones allow you to cross the River and head up towards Station Road and the ‘Coquetvale Hotel’.
