Proposed Pedestrianisation, Church Street Rothbury

Northumberland County Council are considering a proposal to pedestrianise Church Street in Rothbury.

Vehicle access to the section of road between the Market Cross and the Newcastle House will be
prevented and the area will be for use by pedestrians only. The proposal also includes the provision of a zebra crossing on the B6341 with a footway link around the war memorial. It is proposed to raise the zebra crossing so that it also acts as a traffic calming feature. Please note the artists impressions are examples and not firm proposals and we would like to hear your ideas on how the pedestrian space could be used. A drop-in session will also be held in the Jubilee Hall on Wednesday 7th February, 3pm-6pm, where Officers will be available to discuss the proposals and receive feedback.

Artist’s impressions that show how the area could look are available on our website at Northumberland County Council – Traffic management – proposals, consultations and orders where you can also submit your views. Please note the artists impressions are examples and not firm proposals and we would like to hear your ideas on how the pedestrian space could be used.
